I have (and I truelly mean this) sorted out the new Ned’s World. It was pointed out to me that you couldn’t comment on the new posts….

Finally the new home for my blog is working… however like Frankenstein’s monster, it’s still in it’s early days.

I am struggling to upload all the past posts, only until the end of June seem to export/import… any ideas?

I will be tinkering over the next few days/weeks with fonts, tags and widgets.

OK as many of you know I  have a soft spot for Hackbash,

Normally it’s Handolio that gives me a shout out from their blog. Charlie is on annual leave and asked his friend to put this post out…. and to my joy it’s about Oz.

6 week winter, what more do you need

I am a bit of a Google fan; have been for a many years now. Not only the products but other aspects of their business.

So I was very excited when I logged onto Google today to see that Australia has Google Streetview live as of today.

I understand that there are arguments about whether it breaches our privacy; that burglars can case our homes without leaving the comfort of their sofas; that perverts can stalk people and blah blah blah.

I am not going to start a discussion regarding the ethics of it, I do not have an issue with this. If any of you use Googlemail you will notice next to your inbox targeted ads that have been put there by scanning your emails.

If someone is going to rob your house, they will rob your house. If they are going to stalk you, they will stalk you. Google isn’t perpetuating anything! There are many more  worrying ways that our privacy is being breached (and more than often by the government of the country you live in)

OK back to the reason for this posting. Google Street View is freaking awesome! I love it, it is the next step in what social networking could (and will take); Geotagging is already here, so why not with street view too?

For those who actually read the bollocks I write in this blog will know I am moving it to a new host and address

I thought I would use WordPress again for my new blog but it is pissing me off

I am knowledgeable (basic) of PHP and HTML coding… so I ask the geeks out there for your advice for….

What blog software, upload software would you suggest?

I have been FTP’ing, changing the look and hoping to god it works

www.nedsworld.co.uk is in it’s infancy, it has not posts, it looks ok (ish) and I need to work out how to pull all the old stuff across…. but it is there, it is live and it’s mine.

Keep an eye on this blog, bookmark the new one and (all going well) I should be live by the end of the weekend

I am still using wordpress to run my blog and it is still fucking me off, but learning to get round it via the back door

Anyone who has been following this blog (well ok the 3 of you) will be aware that I was trying to register nedsworld as a trademark in Australia… well it is registered (1st part); to complete registration I need to pay $250 for the next 10 years, then every 10 years after.

I was registering the trademark to get nedsworld.com.au as an address for my blog…. I have given up with that! Too much expense, especially as I am planning on moving the blog to a new host, so will have additional hosting costs.

They are very strict on who can have a .com.au web address!

Bless my country of birth, I can get nedsworld.co.uk for $36 for 2 years, no need for trademarks, company numbers etc etc…..

So I am now the proud owner of nedsworld.co.uk, not live yet, need to move my blog across before it goes live.

Ok I am going to finally admit it, I am a geek, a geek and proud of it (no comment from you Adam Lee)

I registered nedsworld as a trademark in Australia to get the .com.au web address I want. I was planning on keeping the blog on wordpress but it isn’t giving me the flexibility in design, look and usage I want.

I like wordpress though, I think it is great. So I am now looking to move my blog onto another host but using wordpress to keep running my blog.

This is new to me, I am hoping the knowledge I have of this is enough. I am not closing down this blog until I know I have the other working right, however I will need your help in letting me know any faults when it goes live.

I will know Monday that I have my web address….

So, I went to YouTube to get the Facebook Song video posted by David Craddock on his Facebook account.

A link from that went to a Bob Dylan parody Facebook song, which then brought up a Weird Al Yankovic parody of the original Bob Dylan song that the Facebook song was a parody of (with me so far?!?) and I found this….

Weird Al Yankovic’s version of “Smells Like Teen Spirit“; the last time I heard this song was when I borrowed (without him knowing) the 7″ single from Ben’s (my older brother) record collection.
